ROYER was a French manufacturer who made well built 6x9 folding cameras (including the TELEROY who had a telemeter like a ZEISS IKONTA).
c.1952 they decided to make a 6x6 & 6x9 camera called ALTESSA

ALTESSA is made on the basis of the 6x9 ROYER folding camera...

but to replace the bellows, the lens is mounted on a telescopic tube

The regular lens (105mm) could be change for & wide or tele lens (that seems never been entered in production)

To allow the lens to be removed, a curtain closes the film chamber by rotating a round button on the top

The same round button on the top is also used to shut partially the curtain to the size of 6x6

The last position of the button opens the curtain completely for 6x9 exposures
This strange camera didn't sell well and production stops c.1954, it is now a very interesting camera to show in collections.
